Mkomazi National Park is a large national park covering 3234 square kilometers. A lesser known and visited park in Northern Tanzania, Mkomazi offers fewer crowds with spectacular wildlife. It has become a refuge for the highly endangered black rhino and African wild dog. This is a great park to visit especially if you have been to Tanzania before and are looking for a different park in the Northern Circuit with fewer crowds.
A variety of animals can be seen in the park including all the large animals such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, oryx, impala, buffalo, and many more.
Mkomazi is great any time of the year, but the dry season is from June – October.
