Tarangire National Park is a large national park covering 2,850 square kilometers with the Tarangire River crossing through the park. Tarangire is home to the elephants and you will definitely see many while you are in the park. The scenery is also stunning with plains scattered with thousands of baobab trees, the Tarangire River, and various swamp areas. The park is also the home to a rare albino giraffe named “Omo”. We love this park and highly recommend it if you have time for a visit.
Elephants! You will see plenty of elephants, but there are also giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, monkeys, guinea fowl, impala, ostriches, tree-climbing pythons, hartebeest, waterbuck, warthog, and topi. The park is home to 550 species of birds so if you are a bird-lover, this is a great park to visit. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs live in Tarangire, but can sometimes be difficult to see depending on the day.
Tarangire is a great park to visit any time of the year, but the dry season is from June – October when you can see the most animals.
