My partner and I were in Babati, Tanzania, this summer, visiting some old friends and their families. We wanted to go on some day trips and have some adventures together, both to celebrate our seeing one another and to make some new memories, especially for my friends' kids. AFRICA TOP GUIDE helped us plan and enabled us to experience three incredible local excursions: an outing in a canoe on Lake Babati, in search of hippos; an ascent into the fog forests of Mount Kwaraha, by foot; and a barbeque at the bottom of Tururu Falls. Africa Top Guide coordinated our 3 week trip to see a bunch of sights in Tanzania - Serengeti, Ngorogoro, and Tarangire safaris, a stay at the incredible Yellow Barbet Tented Camp, hot air balloon ride, touring Maasai villages and other cultural tours, and finally a trip to a Zanzibar beach resort. The group of guides were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and obviously skilled - we weren’t sure what to expect, but ended up feeling so safe adventuring over rugged terrain with our 1 and 4 year old kids on safari. (thanks, Guide Magoma - best friend of our kids!) We saw so many animals including a very lucky experience watching wildebeest crossing the river during the great migration (and one narrowly escaping a crocodile’s jaws). It felt like being plopped into an episode of “Planet Earth” and was truly an unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience. For a large group traveling with ages 1 to 65, with most being their first time to Africa, they managed to be so accommodating and well coordinated to squeeze in all the adventures we asked for. ATGEL provided my wife and I (and our extended family of 16 adults and 3 toddlers) 26 incredible days of trekking, safari AND relaxation! We believe Top Guide more than lived up to the name, not only sharing the best of Tanzania’s sights, hospitality and accommodations with us, but truly guiding me through a major personal health crisis and probably saving my life. From the fully-certified safari guides, to the hired city-drivers, to the porters and hotel and dining staff, every person went many extra miles and hours to make our every experience in Tanzania enjoyable and safe. As would be expected in travel to rural Africa immediately 'post-pandemic', there were mishaps, including my health crisis on Kilimanjaro, KLM Air losing all our trekking gear, and unplanned vehicle repairs. Went on an 11 day trip in January and every detail of the trip was seamless. We spent the first 5 days hiking Mount Kilimanjaro via the Mandara route, and the next 6 on safari (Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater). I was particularly impressed by the quality of tour guides. They were very knowledgable on niche animal wildlife and country specific information. The ATGE team has 20+ years of experience in the tourism industry, and knows the ins and out on how to put together a highly individualized and fun itinerary. We saw many large tour companies that seemed too commercial and overpriced, whereas ATGE was much more personal and tailored towards what we wanted to make of our trip. What an adventure! We can't thank ATGEL enough for organizing such a perfectly personalized safari adventure for our honeymoon. Our 6 day safari took us through Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, and ended in Ngorongoro Crater. We saw more lions, giraffes, zebra, wildebeast, elephants, and more than we could keep track of. We even got some great glimpses of leopards and cheetahs with their young. If that wasn't enough, we also had the luck to witness a pride of lionesses hunt a warthog! Our guide was an expert at spotting animals and he seemed to have a special knack for getting our jeep perfectly positioned to view the wildlife. Through it all, ATGEL was so easy to work with. When we were designing our itinerary, they made sure we got the best experience for our interests and for the time of year. For example, when I mentioned that I love elephants, they recommended we visit Tarangire since it's known for large elephant herds, especially during the dry season. Plus, we'd get to see the striking baobab trees. All of their chosen accommodations were beautiful and placed us in prime wildlife viewing locations. We heard lions and hyenas as we slept, and we woke up to impala and monkeys in camp. Lastly, the cherry on top was when we realized they had surprised us with a custom "Just Married" tire cover made to put on the back of the jeep along with matching T-shirts. It was unforgettable! Day 1:Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and after undertaking customs and immigration formalities, you will be met by Company representative and transferred to your lodge in Arusha for some replenishment, rest and relaxation for the night, ready for the fabulous safari experience that await.
Overnight at Arusha Planet lodge, all meals included.
Day 2:Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at your lodge in Arusha, depart for Tarangire National Park for game drive. The driving is along beautiful Masai steppe & many villages. Tarangire is one of the best National Parks in Northern Tanzania which runs along the lines of Tarangire River, and it contains low lying hills appearing on the floor of Great Rift Valley. The vegetation of the park is mainly acacia woodland and huge African Baobab trees with a swamp area on the South.
Tarangire River and the swamps attracts a very large number of wild animal as it is the only permanent water sources in the entire park. Tarangire National Park is famous for its large elephant population found nowhere else in Africa. You may expect to spot giraffe, buffalo, zebra, impala, wildebeest, warthog, baboons & lots of monkeys.
Afternoon drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Marera Valley Lodge.
Day 3:Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast depart with packed lunch and descend into the crater for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive eco-system. Enjoy abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of the conservation area. This game drive provides one of the best opportunities in Africa to view black rhino, which tend to spend their time on the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. Another big draw card to this picturesque Caldera, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, and if lucky enough you will have chance to see the small cats like the Rare Caracal, Serval cat as well as the African wild cat which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. Picnic lunch will be served at the crater floor. Then drive to the Wild richest Park, The Serengeti National Park.

Day 4 – 5:Exploring Serengeti National Park
Days of game viewing around Central Serengeti plains. You have an option of breaking the day into two by doing Early morning and late afternoon game viewing, drive through the central Serengeti in the golden light of dawn looking for special wildlife interactions and photographic opportunities, whereby, you will depart the lodge at first light with a picnic breakfast for a big day in search of the biggest herds of the great migrations. The Central Serengeti and Seronera river valley are home to a great diversity of wildlife due to its unique ecological niches as a transition zone where two distinctly different habitats, the plain and the woodlands merge and various species of wildlife from both habitats can coexist. You also have an option of starting a day by doing the Serengeti Balloon safari in one of these 2 days before breakfast and this can be arranged at extra cost.

Day 6:Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
On this day, early after breakfast you can do another early morning game drive after checking out at your camp with packed lunch. Spend much time in Serengeti doing game drives before starting your en-route game drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at Rhino Lodge before or during sunset for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7:Ngorongoro-Manyara-Arusha
After breakfast we will take you to Lake Manyara National Park, the ever-green park nestling at the base of the Great East African Rift Valley with overlapping habitats which supports a large number of animal species including the famous Lake Manyara tree climbing lions, giraffe, elephant, zebra, buffalo, leopard, hyena and many more.
Afterward drive back to Arusha. If you wish you may visit Mto wa Mbu market or any Masai market on the way before reaching Arusha in late afternoon. You will be dropped off at the airport if flying same day, or at your hotel.

Tarangire National Park (2,600km2) has unrivalled landscape of open plains, dotted with thousands of baobabs. It is located about 120kms south of Arusha. Tarangire is known for its lions and very big herds of buffalo. This is one of Africa’s little-known gems and should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness and solitude. The animals include zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, Maasai giraffe and fringe-eared oryx (gemsbok). Predators include lion, cheetah and leopard. Birders will want to look out for the endemic ashy starling, rufous-tailed weaver and black-collared lovebird.

Day 1: Arusha
As you arrive at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, you’ll be welcomed by a Safari expert. You’ll be transferred to Pazuri Inn Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay with Half-board. The lodge is just 45 minutes from the airport, and the journey takes you through the beautiful scenery of Tanzania.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast the tour starts. The first stop is Arusha Town for any last-minute purchases before we head off on safari. Afterward, we head towards the Tarangire National Park for a game drive with picnic lunch. Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and 30,000 zebras.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park
Today early in the morning around 06:30 am depart with packed breakfast box and picnic lunch set off for an early morning game drive in the vast Serengeti plains. Early morning game drive can allow you to see cat family on the road as they try to avoid morning mist. Depending on traveling dates you will follow the Great Wildebeest Migration herds & spend much time with them while anticipating experiencing animal actions like hunting, eating, fighting even killing.
Late afternoons drive back to your camp for dinner & overnight – Acacia Central Camp
Day 5:Serengeti- Ngorongoro
After breakfast, depart with Lunch boxes for Ngorongoro Crater. You will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A very large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here.
Late afternoon drive to Marera Valley Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Ngorongoro- Lake Manyara- Arusha
After breakfast collect picnic lunch and drive to Lake Manyara National Park the ever-green park nestling at the base of the Great East African Rift Valley with overlapping habitats which supports a large number of animal species including the famous Lake Manyara tree climbing lions, giraffe, elephant, zebra, buffalo, leopard, hyena and many more.

Day 5: Ngorongoro – Tarangire
After breakfast embark on a morning crater tour with picnic lunch.
Descend 2000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the crater for a half day crater tour.
Explore the forest areas which are inhabited by monkeys and elephant, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food.

Day 6 : Tarangire – Arusha
After breakfast embark on a morning game drive in the park with picnic lunch
Tarangire National Park (2,600km2) has unrivalled landscape of open plains, dotted with thousands of baobabs. It is located about 120kms south of Arusha. Tarangire is known for its lions and very big herds of buffalo. This is one of Africa’s little-known gems and should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness and solitude. The animals include zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, Maasai giraffe and fringe-eared oryx (gemsbok). Predators include lion, cheetah, and leopard. Birders will want to look out for the endemic ashy starling, rufous-tailed weaver, and black-collared lovebird.
After lunch drive back to Arusha and drop-off at your hotel at around 17:00hrs

Day 1 Arusha National Park
07:00hrs Pick up from your hotel in Arusha City Centre and drive to Arusha National Park for a full day game drive with picnic lunch.
This park (137km2) has terrain ranging from open savannah through acacia scrublands to Afro-montane cloud and rain forest and Afro-alpine vegetation very similar to Mount Kilimanjaro. There are several alkaline lakes and the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater. Mammal species include elephant, buffalo, various primates, giraffe, and leopard. Hiking is allowed if accompanied by an armed guard and the climb up Mount Meru is superb. At 4,556m, Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain in Africa and is in the Arusha National Park.
Late afternoons drive back to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Pazuri Inn .
Day 2 Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast depart from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Game drive in the park with picnic lunch.
This is one of the most diverse of Tanzania’s national parks, a tiny (325km2) combination of Rift valley lake, dense woodlands, and steep mountainside. Manyara is a birding paradise (more than 380 species), especially for waterfowl and migrants and the forests are one of the best places around to see leopards. Lions hunt on the grassy shores of the
lake. Most visitors tailor a visit to Manyara to fit in with a trip to one of the Big Three parks (Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro).

Day 3 Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast collect picnic lunch and drive to Serengeti National Park
Afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park
This park is renowned for being the location of the Great Wildlife Migration, which involves over two million wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes. It is also an extremely large and wild game park, and home to the Big Five of Africa.
Dinner and overnight at Embalakai Camp – Central Serengeti
Day 4 Serengeti – Ngorongoro
After breakfast collect packed lunch and depart for a morning game drive in the endless plains of the Serengeti for a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade.
Mid-day drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
