Mikumi National Park covers 3,230 square kilometers and is the fourth largest national park in Tanzania. Located in Southern Tanzania, Mikumi is less visited than the Northern Circuit parks, which means fewer crowds but still equally incredible wildlife and scenery. Mikumi is primarily savanna with some rock formations in some areas of the park. This is a great park to visit if you are traveling to Dar es Salaam and would like to go on a safari from there.
You can see most of the typical savanna animals including elephants, hippos, lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and more.
The best time to visit Mikumi is during the dry season from May to November.
