Katavi National Park is a very remote park that covers 4,471 square kilometers. Katavi does not get as many visitors as other national parks and it is difficult to access often requiring boarding a small charter flight or driving a long distance on unpaved roads. If you are looking for untouched African scenery where its just you and wildlife, Katavi is the park for you.
Katavi has a high biodiversity and you can see large animals such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, and more. A highlight of Katavi is the hundreds of hippos that pack themselves on top of each other near the river during the dry season.
The park is very difficult to access during the rainy season so the best time to visit would be May – October.
